Lut (Arabic: لوط, romanized: Lūṭ, [luːtˁ]), known as Lot in the Old Testament, is a prophet of God in the Quran. Though Lut was not born among the people he’d been sent to preach to, the people of Sodom are still regarded as his “brethren” in the Quran. He is believed to have lived after Ibrahim (Abraham), and Muslims believe that he was sent as a prophet to the Midianites, who are also known as the Aṣḥāb al-Aykah (“Companions of the Wood”), since they used to worship a large tree. To the people, Shuaib proclaimed the straight path and warned the people to end their fraudulent ways. When the community did not repent, God destroyed the community.
Alongside Hud, Saleh and Muhammad(Peace be upon them), Shuaib is understood by Muslims as one of the 4 Arabian prophets sent by God. It is said that he was known by Muslims as “the eloquent preacher amongst the prophets”, because he was, according to tradition, granted talent and eloquence in his language.

He is also considered to be the prophet sent to guide the Children of Israel (Banī Isra’īl), being revealed in the third holy book called the Injīl.
In the Quran, Jesus is described as the Messiah (al-Masīḥ), born of a virgin (Maryan (pbuh), performing miracles, accompanied by disciples, rejected by the Jewish establishment, and being raised to heaven. The Quran asserts that Jesus was not crucified nor died on the cross, but was miraculously saved by God. The Quran places Jesus amongst the greatest prophets – not the son of / or god incarnate as many Christian faiths attest. The prophethood of Jesus is preceded by that of Yahya and succeeded by Muhammad, the latter of whom Jesus is reported to have prophesied by using the name Ahmad.
